It was so weird! I was trying to type something into the Google search box a little bit ago. Well, I kept getting this weird music, and it wouldn't let me type anything in there. Eventually, after a few tries it let me do it, but it really annoyed me. Any theories as to why it did this? I really hope it doesn't do that to me again!

Hmmm, must go check this out. I've been reading about this issue on Twitter, as well. Not sure what's up.

Yeah its a little guitar thing just for today. Its kind of cool.

haha, I like the guitar thinggy! I was playing around with it earlier because I honestly had nothing better to do. :p Needless to say, it got really annoying at first, but I obviously don't mind it so much now.

Actually, there are two edit boxes; the usual google search box, and that little box that plays guitar notes if you press most of the keys on your keyboard. I'm not sure why the guitar thinggy (for lack of anything better to call it) is even there, but it is, so I've just learned to deal with it.

At the top of the page is a link that says Screen reader users, click here to turn off Google Instant. so if it bothers you click it off on your computer.

Even if you don't turn off instant, there are two edit fields on there. The first, JAWS should say, "read only edit," and that's the guitar. But the second is the actual search box where you type what you want. Or, if you prefer, use B to navigate to the search button, and the edit field directly above is the one you type in. And the guitar is still up there, by the way.

Aw man. That sounds cool! *smile* I found it I think. But, do you need a Google account to use it though? 'Cuz it doesn't work for me. It says "edit unavailable" and does nothing when I press enter to get into that edit box.

doesn't work here don't even have the extra box.

I feel deprived!

I feel deprived and I'm gona kick the bucket now. they have removed it here in india it seems. It was there yesterday, though.

Raaj.

Gemi, not sure why it's not working. If you hit the link for screen readers to turn off google instant, I think it goes away, but not sure. I don't think you have to have a google account to use it, though. The other cool thing is, if you press several keys at once, it plays multiple notes, so you can make chords and things. Hahahaha.

Post 12 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 10-Jun-2011 12:56:26

Awesome! *smiling* I got it. Yeah, when I entered a search term and then turned off Google Instant on the Search Results page, the box was still there and I was able to get into it! This is the closest I'll get to playing a guitar, just because I don't think I'd keep up with practicing on a real one, so I'm going to enjoy this while I can. *smile*

Post 13 by CrazyCapricorn (I lost my conscience! Anyone seen it?) on Friday, 10-Jun-2011 17:05:46

Aww, so they removed it in other Countries? Yeah even if you do turn off google instent, which by the way, is a huge pain in the ass, the box will still be there. And although I personally would like a real guitar better as I used to play one, if you're as bored as I was most of yesterday, it's amusing. :d

Ok, I know I may be in the mynority here but when I saw that yesterday I was like, "What the heck is this? What's going on?" lol! I don't like it..the 2 edit boxes I think is the reason why..ugh..however, oh well..

Post 16 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Saturday, 11-Jun-2011 23:13:09

I think it's gone now, I didn't see it.

Post 18 by SatansProphet (Forever in the service of Satan, my King...) on Thursday, 16-Jun-2011 11:16:34

Oh, okay. So that's what it was! Lol. I dunno...it annoyed me, so I turned off Google Instant, and it seemed to go away. Hasn't come back since. I was just curious as to why it did that. Thanks, guys.

Damn. I feel deprived too. Lol. Never ran across it once. Probably a good thing--I'd have amused myself for hours.

I wasted some time with it too: it was kinda fun.
For other blind bats on this site I'll tell you what's happening:
For years now, Google has been doing what they call Google Doodle: an artist will do a graphic for Google. All you hear with your reader is graphic Google or image Google, though of late they will occasionally give some alternate text that describes it.
This, and the PAC Man deal last year, are just fancier doodles when a still shot or even an animated image aren't quite enough anymore.
Love it or hate it: that's what's going on with these.

Oh nevermind, I've found it. For anyone wanting to mess about with it, the link is:

ah, so you can still play around with it. Cool. although I'll admit I'm kind of glad it's not on the main page anymore. I didn't mind, but I always ended up typing in the guitar box instead of the search box by accident, out of habit, I guess.
